John Cena vs. The Miz (“I Quit” Match)

WWE Champion John Cena vs. The Miz (“I Quit” Match)

Wearing his signature virtues of hustle, loyalty and respect on his sleeve every time he heads to the ring, WWE Champion John Cena doesn’t have an ounce of quit in him … and neither does his fiercely competitive rival The Miz. However, at WWE Over the Limit, both of these battle-tested ring warriors will put their bodies and careers on the line for WWE’s richest prize in an “I Quit” Match, among the most arduous and brutal contests WWE has to offer.

In an “I Quit” Match, the only way to emerge victorious is to punish one’s opponent to the point where they have no choice but to utter the words “I quit.” In this encounter – its stipulation chosen by Cena himself – there will be no pin falls, no submissions, no disqualifications, no count-outs and absolutely no mercy from either side. On May 22, there will be no doubt as to which of these Superstars deserves to call themselves “WWE Champion.”

The Cenation Commander-in-Chief vied for The Awesome One’s WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXVII, aiming to end The Era of Awesome on The Grandest Stage of Them All. However, due to outside interference from WrestleMania Host The Rock, The Miz’s WWE Championship reign extended to Extreme Rules in Tampa the following month. There, Cena humbled the self-professed most “must-see” WWE Champion in history with a ring-shaking Attitude Adjustment. Just shy of its 160th day, The Miz’s first WWE Championship reign was over.

The next night on Raw, The Miz’s rule-bending tendencies got the better of him in his explosive rematch with The Champ but was disqualified – an inconclusive outcome. Furious, the former WWE Champion affirmed to his associate Alex Riley that he is not a quitter, and would not rest until Cena’s title was around his “awesome” waist once again.

With 10 World Championships to his credit, Cena’s veteran expertise and familiarity with “I Quit” scenarios involving the WWE Title – including definitive victories over Randy Orton, Batista and JBL – make him seem like the odds-on favorite to remain WWE Champion once the dust has cleared at WWE Over the Limit. However, as the WWE Universe is well aware, The Miz has a mean streak, and will no doubt take full advantage of the callous conditions of this match to vent his frustrations on Cena and take back what he believes is rightfully his.

Will The Champ turn back The Miz once more in this grueling “I Quit” Match? Or will The Awesome One make The Cenation Commander-in-Chief say the two words that have never been in his vocabulary?
